Tackling Herbicide Resistance in the Pacific Northwest: Herbicide-resistant weeds are increasingly challenging cereal crop production in the Pacific Northwest, threatening yields, soil health and market access. The Pacific Northwest Herbicide Resistance Initiative (PNWHRI) which is a collaborative effort among OSU, WSU, UI, and USDA-ARS is addressing this issue head-on. 4. The Oregon Grass Seed Commissions has compiled updated FIFRA Section 24(c) Special Local Need (SLN) labels that allow above-ground applications of zinc phosphide for vole control in grasses grown for seed and the one SLN label that allows above-ground applications of zinc phosphide for vole control in clover grown for seed.

5. The ODA has registered the new SLN OR-250006, which authorizes the use of FMC Corporation’s Steward EC insecticide to control clover seed weevil adults on white clover grown for seed, alsike clover grown for seed and arrowleaf clover grown for seed. EPA Reg. No. 279-9596, indoxacarb.
6. The ODA has approved a revised label for SLN OR-220003, authorizing the use of AMVAC’s Python Herbicide (Flumetsulam, EPA Reg. No. 5481-677) on labeled clover grown for seed to control broadleaf weeds, including Brassicaceae, Dock species, and Mayweed chamomile. Berseem and balansa clover have been added, with other changes limited to formatting and label clean-up that do not affect use directions.
